Garden Expo

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

We had an exciting week at the PA Garden Expo in Harrisburg!

It was great getting to meet a lot of our friends as you came to visit our display garden. Our display featured many of the latest trends in Outdoor Living, a fireplace, a built in grilling area, a pergola, entrance arbors, a pondless water feature, woodland plantings and much more. We also included a sampling of the many textures and inlay options that can be created using various types of pavers and wall block. Seating walls helped create individual spaces in the design and the landscape lighting helped to set the mood for a relaxing evening dinner, not to mention the soothing sound of the woodland stream. I want to give a special thanks to all the individuals and businesses who helped us make this display a success.

So, if you weren’t able to make it to the show, you can take a little tour of our display by scrolling through these photos….

Winter Jobs

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

Sneak a peak behind the fence of an interesting job in old town Carlisle!

Despite the earlier cold snap the weather is cooperating very nicely with the progress of this project.  The accessories we are constructing will turn this formerly vacant lot into a cozy extension of the indoor living area.  Don’t let the mud and dust in the photos fool you.  When the construction around this pool is completed you will be able to warm up by the fireplace (which would feel pretty good right now), prepare dinner in the kitchen area, relax in the shade of the pavilion, and enjoy the color and fragrance of the trees and shrubs surrounding the hardscape!  Stay tuned as progress continues!

This Seasons Work

Friday, July 10th, 2009

A few of the jobs we’ve been working on recently have ranged from York to Harrisburg to Hershey to Shippensburg.  Makes for a lot of miles!  There seems to be a need for creative landscape design and installation work all over the Susquehanna Valley.  Take a look at some of the projects we are working on or have just completed.  They range from plantings to pondless water falls to patios and retaining walls.

With all the moisture we’ve been having, this grass should be growing in no time!

Summer is the season for lots of color in your garden!

This seating wall and pondless waterfall will help make this patio seem more cozy and secluded.  Hopefully we can put the finishing touches on this one next week.

We installed this water feature a few years ago.   It includes several hundred feet of streams as well as a pond, wetland filtration system and plenty of water falls.   It’s a real pleasure to be involved in the maintenance as it matures and blends into it’s natural surroundings.

Pool Hardscape

Poolsides!

We had a great time bringing new life to this pool area.  This beautiful, secluded setting near Mt Holly, Pa was so much fun to work at.   It’s always amazing what a few pavers and seating walls can do to increase the usefulness  of a pool side.  And lights….can’t forget about the lights!   We also added low voltage lighting to accent key areas of the stonework.

Getting started

A properly excavated and compacted paver base is key to a long lasting patio installation.

These piers and steps make a grand entrance to the pool side.

Curved seating walls fit so nicely in a setting like this.

Anxious to Plant?

Plantings compliment the Hardscape

We were excited to have completed the first phase of a project in the Carlisle area.  Since we had a fairly open winter- not much snow- we able to sneak in between the cold snaps to build the retaining walls at the end of this house.   These Anchor Highland Walls helped us manage the  slope better and prepare it for the plantings this spring.   The entrance columns and wing walls were added to help compliment the house as well as accent the entrance way to this beautiful residence.  The paver border at the entrance to the driveway was a unique addition.   We are excited for spring to make itself a little more apparent so we can ‘dig in’ to the planting phase of this project.  The plantscapes will help soften this stone work and make it flow together with the rest of the landscape.
