It was great getting to meet a lot of our friends as you came to visit our display garden. Our display featured many of the latest trends in Outdoor Living, a fireplace, a built in grilling area, a pergola, entrance arbors, a pondless water feature, woodland plantings and much more. We also included a sampling of the many textures and inlay options that can be created using various types of pavers and wall block. Seating walls helped create individual spaces in the design and the landscape lighting helped to set the mood for a relaxing evening dinner, not to mention the soothing sound of the woodland stream. I want to give a special thanks to all the individuals and businesses who helped us make this display a success.

Despite the earlier cold snap the weather is cooperating very nicely with the progress of this project.  The accessories we are constructing will turn this formerly vacant lot into a cozy extension of the indoor living area.  Don’t let the mud and dust in the photos fool you.  When the construction around this pool is completed you will be able to warm up by the fireplace (which would feel pretty good right now), prepare dinner in the kitchen area, relax in the shade of the pavilion, and enjoy the color and fragrance of the trees and shrubs surrounding the hardscape!  Stay tuned as progress continues!

We recently attended a seminar/workshop on Rainwater Harvesting.  There is certainly no better way to get pumped about some of the latest design concepts that are being developed, than working with them in a hands-on application!  The concept of capturing rainwater and having the ability to reuse it in various ways around your yard and garden is in by no means a new idea.  The neat thing about some of the new products on the market is the flexibility they give you to incorporate them seamlessly into the landscape.   A problem drainage area on your property can be turned into an attractive focal point by incorporating a fountain or pondless waterfall, or the water could be captured by means of a permeable paver system and then stored for future irrigation needs.  The stored water could then be circulated by way of a pondless waterfall, fountain etc.

-The first stage of the RainXchange system is capturing the water using the Downspout Filter. This filter is designed to sit buried at the base of the downspout extension and disguised using decorative stone & gravel.

Finished Projects

Here are a few completed projects showing options that are available with the RainXchange™ System. The decorative water feature not only adds an aesthetic value to the landscape, but it also serves as a filtration system that cleanses and aerates the water. The filtration and biodiversity is similar to that of a rain garden.  While the water is above ground it becomes available to birds, butterflies, amphibians and all of the other small critters in the area.

Adding a little spice to your outdoor living area can be as easy as installing a different style border around your patio.  You can mix up styles and textures, add a band of  contrasting color or style to a wall or column or inlay a shape or design.  All it takes is imagination and creativity.  Let your mind wander.  The edge of your patio is the limit!

The back of this house is about to be transformed into a very elegant, usefull and practical ourdoor living area.

With all the moisture we’ve been having, this grass should be growing in no time!

Summer is the season for lots of color in your garden!

This seating wall and pondless waterfall will help make this patio seem more cozy and secluded.  Hopefully we can put the finishing touches on this one next week.

We installed this water feature a few years ago.   It includes several hundred feet of streams as well as a pond, wetland filtration system and plenty of water falls.   It’s a real pleasure to be involved in the maintenance as it matures and blends into it’s natural surroundings.
